"Slow Living is a curious mix of being prepared and being prepared to let go. Caring more and caring less. Saying yes and saying no. Being present and walking away. Doing the important things and forgetting those that aren't. Grounded and free. Heavy and light. Organized and flexible. Complex and simple." - Brooke McAlary
I like how Brooke McAlary describes Slow Living, it's a balancing act of just about everything.
It is near impossible for me to try to move away from the busyness, so Slow Living to me is a mindset, it is about using the pockets of time in each day, to indulge in what recharges me & elevates my day. It is a cocktail mix made up of:
1) a digital detox, redefining my relationship with my phone and my gadgets, to make room for screen-free time which recharges me, for example, cooking & baking, taking walks in the parks, dabbling in handicraft and etc.
2) letting go of FOMO (fear of missing out) & embrace the JOMO (joy of missing out); to embrace the art of saying no & prioritising time for activities or simply nothingness.
3) living lighter; minus away the heavy & superficial, declutter & organize, be conscious in buying, how about an upcycling project? What sparks joy?
4) being intentional with my time; it makes me feel i am in control (and why shouldn't I be) of time and not allow for time to control me. Living life at a gentle pace, a feeling of home, a feeling that we are safe, or simply hygge.
What about you, what is your Slow Living cocktail mix made up of?
